“The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public of recent changes to the project since our last Jan 2020 public hearing. SCDOT has developed additional floodplain mitigation strategies for the project. These strategies involved construction activities along Sawmill Branch downstream of the project area to Dorchester Road to improve conveyance. These activities are expected to reduce the flood-related impacts associated with the project.
Virtual meeting will be live March 30-April 14th, 2021 for review and comment
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) proposes to construct the last segment or phase 3 of the Berlin Myers Parkway (BMP) in Dorchester County, South Carolina. The project includes the construction of approximately 2.5 miles of a new primary route roadway, 4 lanes with curb and gutter and a landscaped raised median, which extends from Gahagan Road (S-18-339) to US 17A at Boone Hill Road and West Fisher Road. (See map) The project will include intersection improvements at the intersections of the new roadway with US 17A, Orangeburg Road (S-18-22), Greenwave Boulevard (S-18-363/678), and Luden Road (S-18-706). The project also includes the construction of seven new bridge structures and reconstruction of the shared use pathway along the Sawmill Branch.
Anticipated Project Cost is $118 Million.“
